Patrick Swayze Dies:

Patrick Swayze died today after a long battle with cancer. He was 57. Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. His publicist says he died with his family at his side. He was the star of such movies as "Ghost," "Dirty Dancing," and "Road House." Swayze was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi from June 12, 1975 until his death. The couple first met in 1970 when Swayze was 18 years old. Niemi, 14 years old at the time, was taking dance lessons from Swayze's mother. Swayze and Niemi had no children.

As a reaction to his 57 year old father's death from a heart attack in 1982, Swayze began to drink heavily.
